We’re moving!!!

But it’s not quite how it sounds. While our intent was to head to Europe for a long stint once I got my (pending) Aus citizenship, it’s getting too late in the year to plan a lengthy stay that would allow us to enjoy the best weather there.

At this time every year we begin thinking of our winter sojourn. So…this past week we made a couple big decisions. We bought a:

Ford Ranger XLT dual cab pick-up
21-foot Jayco Silverline caravan (trailer) model 21.65-4 OB

Not totally surprising since we have relished life on the road in Aus the past two winters. This time we will live full-time in our caravan and move wherever the spirit takes us. First destination is Queensland, and Far North Queensland is only comfortably do-able during winter since it’s in the tropics. We intend to make a beeline north by the second half of June. From there we will work our way south or west or both. There are even places we want to revisit and places near Melbourne we still want to see for more than a couple days.

While I wait for my citizenship to be processed, we will be discovering more of this amazing country. This translates to more blogging with interesting tidbits and photos. Which means letting me know if you are still keen to get these because if I don’t receive feedback, I won’t bother. Another sneaky way for me to know how you are doing, too. Get it???

This time we won’t have to drive our home to the grocery store; we can park it and take the Ranger (or bikes, of course). We’re preparing to be totally self-contained and self-sufficient to take more advantage of national parks and farm stays so we won’t always have to rely on caravan parks.

We are so excited and ready to take a break from Melbourne after a fantastic 4 years exploring and getting reacquainted with the city. If you’ve been considering a visit with us here, well, maybe next time, unless you want to meet us somewhere on the road.
