For the requisite shakedown cruise we drove to Daylesford, a charming little town about 110km northwest of Melbourne. It’s especially pretty with its well-kept Victorian architecture and hilly surroundings.  With the onset of the rainy winter season it’s grassy meadows have greened up and a few trees retained a bit of autumn color. This is spa and wine country, with hospitable lodging and famed dining options. Naturally, the residents sport a genteel nature and the shops on the high street are equally chic. We spent a couple days at the caravan park at Jubilee Lake and then stored the caravan at another location while we had a sleepover with friends nearby. Other than a couple minor mishaps with the van we deemed the trip a success that has us eager to hit the road full time.
