Noosa impresses once again with both a stunning ocean- and riverfront. Hiking Noosa Heads is an extraordinary experience with diverse landscapes and views and the spit has a lot of trails that present the best of river access. We also made a couple day trips to the lakes north, the hills southeast, and the Sunshine Coast south.
The last of Queensland as we head south repeating some of our route but trying to see new territory as well.Boreen Point on a grey day when we got caught in a wild, brief storm. Like the rest of Australia we stopped at 3:00pm to watch the Melbourne Cup horse race at the local pub.These look like Brighton Beach bathing boxes transplanted to Elanda Point on Lake Cootharaba.The Noosa Hinterland is postcard pretty.The town of Maleny is ready for Christmas with this decorated Illawarra flame tree in the heart of the high street.We laughed when we read this sign advertising an employment opportunity in beautiful chic Montville.The beaches of the Sunshine Coast have interesting surf rescue equipment including various rescue boards, lots of different spine boards and spine collars, rescue tubes, rescue sleds, rescue helmets. It seems every coastal town has an active Surf Club and these days they make a lot of money to support the purchase of equipment through their cafes which are often good value and worth a visit.The canals of Noosa invite lots of water sports like stand-up paddling.…and motoring along in a little skiff.…and kite surfing.The grilled seafood at Ricky’s Restaurant, Noosa, included a Moreton Bay “bug” (a type of slipper lobster) and Mooloolaba prawns….say that 10 times fast.Their “favourite-for-ten-years” dessert is a passionfruit souffle. Amazing!
A visit with our friends the Lambert’s gave us a chance to explore Brisbane for a few days and service Silver. We spent the time riding our bikes along the meandering waterfront. If not for the toasty days laden with moisture, I might enjoy more of Queensland’s largest city.
The former wool warehouses have been converted to residential lofts and this artistic lamb celebrates the past.Artistic flair dominates the riverfront across from downtown.This lightship from the Bay of Carpinteria is now on display at the Maritime Museum. They are used in lieu of a lighthouse when the water is too deep water or it is not possible to construct one.A great example QLD’s grand Victorian architecture in the Regatta Hotel.A stunning Jacaranda in the park next to the Lambert’s home in Coorparoo. The umbrella shape is natural if you don’t attempt to prune it.A plug for Des Lambert’s watercolours which I happen to adore.With all the beaches we’ve seen in QLD, Burleigh Heads beach has a great idea for challenged beach goers.This male Eastern Water-Dragon was roaming through our caravan site one morning. He was about two feet long and six inches tall and was quite comical when running.An original way to display indigenous art and disguise a storage shed in Burleigh. The design and colour seem to have derived from the dragon lizard.

It is always so interesting to receive one of your journals. Pictures, as usual, are amazing – with a 12 1/2 year old grandson who is moving into being in his bedroom much of the time, I loved the job advertisement! Continue to enjoy and continue to share!!
How does one get their present out from top that tree? Love the ‘Vacant Position’ sign. Reads like it’s much the same, no matter what country you live in.
